Representative Sue Myrick is not going to seek re-election has launched a mad scramble of interested candidates. BIG MEETING at this Saturday’s (February 11th – 9 am) Ballantyne Breakfast Club meeting at The Ballantyne Hotel & Spa. Many of our city and state leaders will be in attendance. In light of this announcement by Rep. Sue Myrick, it has been reported former Mecklenburg Sheriff and current County Commissioner, Jim Pendergraph is going to run as well rumors of various state and local politicians mulling over whether to throw their hat in the ring such as former State Senator Robert Pittinger, City Council representative Andy Dulin, and former County Commission Chair, Jennifer Roberts…interesting times indeed!
Confirmed attendees at the Ballantyne Breakfast Club’s February meeting include State leaders Senator Bob Rucho, Representative Ruth Samuelson and Representative Bill Brawley.
In addition County Commissioners Harold Cogdell (Chair of the County Board), Jim Pendergraph & Neil Cooksey and City Council members David Howard, Beth Pickering, Claire Fallon, Warren Cooksey, Charlotte Mecklenburg School Board members Ericka Ellis Steward, (Chair of the CMS Board), Rev. Amelia Stinson-Wesley, Tim Morgan, Dr. Hugh Hattabaugh (or designated representative).
Mayor Anthony Foxx will also attend as well as County Manager Harry Jones, Designated City Managers Representative, CATS CEO Carolyn Flowers, CMPD Chief Monroe, CFD Chief Hann, Representatives from the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce & the Ballantyne Chapter of the Chamber of Commerce.
So, don’t miss this meeting! Something tells the Buzz that there may be some surprises in Ballantyne this Saturday morning.
