Charlotte is the Jewel of the New South!

Well, maybe not THIS bad!

I like to tell my clients that when I moved here 20 years ago from Atlanta, I thought I had moved to the sticks! (That’s a southern term for the backwoods country-life). I could not wait to get transferred back to Atlanta. But, my, how Charlotte has changed over the past 20 years! In 1991, Southpark Mall was little more than a shopping center with very little to offer than Belk Department Store and something called Hecht’s. None of the tony shops found at Lenox Mall or Phipps Plaza in Atlanta. And dining and entertainment venues…not much! But, now there is a veritable plethora of fine dining establishments, funky, eclectic eateries and ethnic restaurants to satisfy any type of foodie craving. Entertainment? Well, for the sports enthusiast, we have the Carolina Panthers, The Charlotte Bobcats and Charlotte Checkers and the NASCAR Hall of Fame; and, after you catch the game, you can head over the new entertainment complex, the Epicenter, containing restaurants, bars, bowling at Strike City, catch the movies while sipping a glass of wine or singing at the top of your lungs at Howl at the Moon!

And that’s just for starters. The Mint Museum, Bechtler Museum of Modern Art and the Harvey B. Gant Center for African-American Arts + Culture, Discovery Place, Broadway plays and opera at Blumenthal Performing Arts Center plus the Charlotte Symphony! Tired yet?

Want to know a little bit about Charlotte, NC? Check out this video from The Kiplingers Report. Voted one of the 10 best value cities to live in by Kiplinger, Charlotte is one of the undiscovered jewels of the New South. Well that will change next year when the 2012 Demorcratic National Convention comes to town.

Citing affordable housing, good schools and young demographics, Kiplinger says Charlotte is a great place to live. Our banking industry and green, energy-related businesses are making Charlotte a great place to earn a good living too. Furthermore, Charlotte’s location attracts engineering talent from Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, North Carolina State and Clemson.

And so much more…Well, have I convinced you to check out Charlotte yet? There is so much more. Charlotte’s got a lot to offer! I would love the opportunity to show you our lovely city ! And we have not even touched on the lake-living, luxury homes, 3 hours to the beach and 1 1/2 hours to the Mountains…I’m running out of breath…ooooh and there’s the White Water Center and Carowinds…you are just going to have to call me for the rest! 704-756-7005! Atlanta – what? Atlanta- who??
