New Census Data Reveals Charlotte Is The #2 Fastest Growing City in America
Once a simple & sweet little small town, Charlotte currently ranks as the second fastest growing city in America. According tonew Censusdata that was just released, Charlotte now has apopulation of 757,278, which is40% higher than the 2000 census population of540,828. The growth was fairly evenly split between moving into a rental and those buying a home or condo.
Thankfully for its residents, Charlotte only slightly fits into that “Big City” category, which requires a population of at least500,000onthe 2000 census. The top “Big City” is listed as Fort Worth, Texas, which has since had a 42.3% increase in population growth. Coming in beneath Charlotte arethree more Texas cities: Austin, with 27.5% growth; San Antonio, 18.7%; and El Paso, 17.2%.
And just check out what Charlotte’s ETJ’s, or surrounding towns are experiencing as far as population growth:
- Indian Trail ranks No. 14 on the overall list with a 186.8% population increase.
- Corneliussaw a growth of113.7%since 2000.
- Huntersville grew 92.4%
- Mooresville grew 79.6%
- Mint Hill grew 56.7%
- Concord grew 44.2%
