The South Charlotte Chef on "Charlotte Today"!
Today was an exciting day as the BallantyneBuzz accompanied Charlotte’s own, South Charlotte Chef, Sandra Mannaravalappil, to WCNC’s Charlotte Today Show, a local TV show that is all about Charlotte! The theme was an “Apple Pie Bake-Off” and the green room was awashwith the yummy aromas of apples, cinnamon and butter! The Charlotte Today’s hosts, Colleen Odegaard and Rob Tanner, were gracious hosts and put everyone at ease.

Four women were chosen to compete in the bake-off and each contestant had a special twist on their version of Apple Pie. The South Charlotte Chef’s apple pie was the most creative with the addition of raisinsplumped in orange juice and orange zest added to the filling – her Italian grandmother and mother’s recipe- yummy! The other contestants, abaker, who specialies in cupcakes, Britt Tuile;and 2 stay-at-home moms, Jenn Simm and Sara Mascorro,had recipes they had developed on their own orwere passed down from a family member. Jenn Simmwon the contest but we are sure that Sandra’s pie was a close second!

Apple Pie Bake-off Contestants!
The South Charlotte Chef also brought her famous home-made marscapone cream-filled cannolis and limoncello,two ofthe Buzz’s favorites! (The Buzz knows that she is getting a special gift of limoncello soon and cannot wait!) So, even though our own South Charlotte chef didn’t win the grand prize of a $50 gift certificate to Bad Daddy’s restaurant (a Ballantyne favorite restaurant), she did go home with a special Charlotte Today apron! As she pulled out of the parking lot to get home to start her lasagna, roast and other delectables for her client’s Thanksgiving dinners, she said “I just love those folks at Charlotte Today and especially love my new apron!” Well, we just love Sandra too!
