A refuge for domestic violence victims, the Shelter for Battered Women is in dire need of donations. The agency is under the United Family Services umbrella and has not been able to handle the number of women and childrenwho seek shelterand protectionfrom a violent partner. The shelter is able to house 30 women and children at a time and last year accepted 617 women while turning away more than 2,000.Read more about the pressure being added to the agency and families in need in this Charlotte Observer article.
